Works prior to the completion of 132 were primarily figurative. Over a period of several years the multiple figures apparent in paintings and prints were gradually reduced and distorted. Single figures were then condensed to mutated features and eventually to ambiguous cell-like shapes.

132 marks a point where lines of enquiry, such as repetition, ambiguity, observation and existence, merged on a larger scale than before.
